Oh my god, we are going to Costa Rica !!!!!

We will be attending this and staying here. In CANNOT believe this is happening and before yesterday morning never dreamt of going to Costa Rica or thought I ever would. Now it is all I think about and I don't think I've ever been as excited about a place in my life. Pura vida, muchachos.

I started teaching myself Spanish about two minutes ago. Yep, great progress here. I am already halfway through the intro chapter, which eats up no fewer than 32 pages before Chapter 1 even starts. Only circa 890 pages to go (in the next six weeks) before I am ready for second-year Spanish.

In three weeks I must learn enough of the good tongue to get by in Puerto Viejo. Already I think I can say stuff like: Donde esta la pulperia? Actually, I have no idea if that is even Spanish at all. I am just making this up as I go along.

Sickness and rain and rejections. You know, I have not had an acceptance since December 2005. It sort of rips me up into a ribbon with each new one, what with the good news lying so far back in time and all that. But I do have five new poems, one finished - finally. Two too bad to even work on. One with kimonos. One with Colorado. One with Daddy. My "A packet" just got rejected, got rejected twice this season. I'm feeling down and I'm reading Japanese novels (and X-Men comics) like there's no tomorrow. Because I can't smoke anymore for pleasure and general nighttime personal satisfaction due to the frakking bronchitis.

There are visitors. (My sister, two nieces - the twins.) They are lovely.
