2010-07-02, 11:42 a.m.: I've been thinking about it - and it almost pains me to say it: "Inglorious Basterds" is, I believe, Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece ... just as the final words in the final scene told me it would be. 0 comments

2010-06-28, 10:42 a.m.: I love that there is now a book category known as "Paranormal Romance" (on Goodreads). I guess it all started back when Zeus visited Danae as a shower of gold ... 0 comments
2010-06-27, 12:18 p.m.: Rather belatedly - because I just finished watching "Razor" last night - I decided that Battlestar Galactica is probably the best TV show of all time. We had put off the end of the series forever, since I hate to end things. I still haven't seen that one episode of ST: Voyager - you know, the one with Chakotay and the Kazon. I'm pretty sure I never will. But about two weeks ago we watched the final arc, starting from the 4th to last episode. The three-part finale was worlds better than I had been led to imagine. I thought it the perfect series closer, and the perfect close to this particular journey. "It has happened before and it will happen again." Now I'm reading all the good things I can about the series. I want to rewatch the whole thing - because I missed so much: though inattention, due to the denseness of the thing - in about a year. I also have to say for the record that I worship at the alter of Tricia Helfer, the hardest working woman in TV. SO many characters. Each different and unique. Hat off to her. I love me some Caprica Six - my favorite character after Starbuck. 1 comments
2010-06-25, 2:25 p.m.: At loose ends. Though I have a paper to (research and) write about issues in Beowulfiana over the past two decades (since Kiernan) and one on a literary theory subject, I'm thinking it may be time to start another Grande Projet: reading Clarissa. Dear Clarissa! Oh. But first Paradise Lost. I promised it to myself for the summer. The whole thing. The beautiful enchilada. 0 comments

2010-06-16, 12:18 a.m.: Things were so bleak in the hospital that I found myself watching "Ice Road Truckers" and thinking that, if things were to really go my way, a "Say Yes to the Dress" marathon would come on instead. 0 comments
